ASUU TO CALL OFF STRIKE ON MONDAY

Information reaching us has it that,
the Academic Staff Union of Universities will call off its protracted strike on Monday, following the passage of the bill on the retirement age of professors of Universities at 70 years.

This was disclosed by Prof Rufa'I who stated this yesterday in Abuja at a crucial meeting with Vice Chancellors of Federal universities. She assured that the bill which was passed last Wednesday will soon be signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan.

She noted that ASUU has disclosed all the issues that will disallow the resolution of the crisis.
Prof Rufa'I said that the federal government will hold another meeting with the union on Monday to finally resolve the lingering problems so that Nigerian students can return to their schools and resume their academic programs.

She urged the union to call off their strike as government is making efforts to meet their demands.
